Tembusu Seniors Activity Centre
In 2009, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth
and Sports (MCYS) conducted a service review on the functions of the
Neighbourhood Link programme. One of the outcomes of the service review
was to reposition the Neighbourhood Link programme to give focus to
elderly persons living in HDB rental blocks. Consequently, Tembusu
Neighbourhood Link was renamed Tembusu Seniors Activity Centre in March
2010. The primary purpose of TSAC is to serve elderly residents living in
Blocks 1, 2 and 12 Eunos Crescent.
Managed
by 4S since June 2006, TSAC aims to be a neighbourhood focal point in the
Eunos community. It works closely with the Grassroots Organisations,
schools, community agencies and Voluntary Welfare Organisations to
organise activities for the residents, in particular the elderly. TSAC's
programmes and services are designed to achieve the objectives of
establishing a local support network, promoting an active volunteer
movement, fostering inter-generational bonding and managing the Alert
Alarm System installed in the 107 units of Studio Apartments for the
elderly in Eunos Crescent.
Aside from organising
activities, TSAC also conducts outreach exercises to residents in the
Eunos area. The centre also assists residents in gaining information and
access to social services. In addition, TSAC facilitates the formation of
mutual help groups and enhances the life satisfaction of the elderly by
involving them in programmes and activities. Through an active volunteer
movement, TSAC also ensures the integration of seniors into the community
and gives them a role in local affairs.

provider of Home Help Service (HHS) in the West region with effect from 1
Apr 08. The service boundary includes Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang, Bukit
Batok, Jurong West, Jurong East and Boon Lay.
The
purpose of HHS is to provide support to the frail elderly so that they
could be assisted to remain in the community for as long as possible. The
five service types of Tembusu Home Help Service are meals delivery, escort
service for medical appointment, personal care hygiene, laundry and
housekeeping.
Tembusu
Food Aid Programme

Tembusu Food Aid Programme (TFAP) provides monthly
food aid in the form of food parcels containing rice, sugar, oil and
condensed milk to needy families in Singapore. The programme is managed by
volunteers who spend one weekend a month to pack and deliver the food
items to families living in different districts.

Originally
operated from the Sathya Sai Baba Centre, TFAP shifted its food storing
and food packing operations to THC in January 2010. In addition to packing
and delivering food parcels, the volunteers identify individual who
require psychosocial support and render assistance in housekeeping
activities to frail elderly persons who have difficulties performing
household chores. Currently there are about 290 families on the programme.
